Padel Court: The Infographic
The goal of this project was to create an informative infographic that visually explains the anatomy of a padel court. While padel is an increasingly popular sport, many people, especially beginners, struggle to fully understand the layout and specifications of a padel court.
The challenge was to design an infographic that would not only be visually engaging but also clearly convey the essential elements and measurements of a padel court, including its walls, net, service lines, and other key features. This infographic needed to be easy to understand for both newcomers to the sport and more experienced players.

Stages
-
Gathered information about padel court components, their dimensions, materials, and placement.
-
Created hand-drawn sketches to explore layouts and compositions before choosing a final design.
-
Creating low and high fidelity prototypes to test ideas and refine interfaces before development.
-
Working closely with developers, stakeholders and graphic designers to ensure the product met user needs.
-
The final deliverable was a polished infographic that clearly explained the components of a padel court using icons, labels, and concise descriptions. I refined the layout, colors, and spacing to ensure clarity and visual balance. The result was an informative and professional graphic suitable for presentations or educational purposes.
Research Highlights
Padel Court Layout: I thoroughly researched the structure of a padel court, which is enclosed by walls (typically made of glass) and metallic mesh fences. The court is divided into halves by a net, with specific lines marking areas for serving and other plays.
Dimensions: Key dimensions were crucial to the design. I discovered that the length of the court is 20 meters and the width is 10 meters, with specific rules for the height of the walls and net. For example, the service line is placed 6.95 meters from the net, and the net itself is 0.88 meters high in the center.
Materials: Research also highlighted the importance of the materials used for the court’s construction, including glass panels for the walls, metallic mesh for the fencing, and a durable net. These materials are essential for both the structural integrity and the gameplay experience in padel.
FIP Regulations: I reviewed the International Padel Federation (FIP) regulations to ensure the infographic included all necessary technical specifications, such as the dimensions of the service lines and net height, which are critical for maintaining the consistency of the sport across different venues.
Results
The final infographic successfully met the project goals by clearly presenting the anatomy of a padel court in a visually appealing and easily digestible format. The key elements, such as the glass panels, net, service lines, and metallic mesh, were illustrated with corresponding icons, and the accompanying text provided precise measurements and descriptions.
The use of a clean layout and color scheme ensured that the infographic was engaging without being overwhelming. The typography helped create a visual hierarchy, guiding the viewer through the information in a logical order. The final design effectively communicated the complexity of the padel court while remaining accessible to those unfamiliar with the sport.

Conclusions
Looking back on the process, I found the research phase to be the most challenging but also the most rewarding. Understanding the technical specifications of a padel court was key to creating an accurate and informative infographic. The design phase was iterative, requiring multiple rounds of sketches and adjustments before I arrived at the final composition. This process taught me the importance of balancing visual appeal with clarity of information.
In terms of the design, the use of vectorized icons and a cohesive color palette made a significant difference in making the infographic both informative and visually engaging. While I initially focused on technical accuracy, I also realized the importance of creating an engaging design that would draw people’s attention and keep them interested.
One area for improvement would be to test the infographic with a target audience, such as padel beginners, to ensure that all the information is easily understood. Additionally, I could expand on the infographic by adding more details or creating interactive versions for digital platforms.
Overall, this project was a great learning experience, and I believe the final deliverable effectively communicates the anatomy of a padel court in a simple, yet informative, manner.
